The Psychology of Leadership

Leadership can be considered as a process through which the behaviours, thoughts, and/or feelings of a significant number of people are influenced in ways that are both important and acceptable to them. Taking this perspective requires those seeking to advance their leadership potential to understand the factors that determine both their own day-to-day behaviours and the degree to which these impact on those around them.

"The Psychology of Leadership" programme enables those who occupy leadership roles to enhance their ability to influence colleagues, subordinates and superiors through greater understanding of aspects of their individual personalities and how these impact on the daily interactions in which they engage in their professional and personal lives.

This 3-day programme utilises a variety of development activities and learning techniques to explore:

  • The personality psychology underlying leadership behaviour
  • How understanding individual psychological type allows us to influence others in a more meaningful fashion
  • Individual approaches to leadership
  • How understanding interpersonal relationships enables us to develop more effective leadership strategies
  • How enhanced behaviour management allows leaders to achieve superior team and organisation functioning
  • The leadership principles of self-development

Transferrable programme elements:

  2. Individual behaviour profile
  3. Personal psychological MBTI® type inventory
